Raising $235,000 for a TUMO Box

Over the last year, Hye Ventures has grown tremendously. We now have a newsletter with thousands of readers every month, a fully functioning website, and an investment syndicate looking to back amazing founders. We couldn’t have done it without all the support from the community including amazing founders, investors, friends, and family. Within the last few months, I’ve been wondering how Hye Ventures and its community can have a bigger impact on the homeland in any way possible. After some research on different initiatives, I came across the launch of TUMO Armenia campaign. Their goal is to make sure all young Armenians have nationwide access to cutting-edge education. Watch the following video to understand the campaign:

What is TUMO you might ask? 

TUMO is a free-of-charge program that compliments school education by giving children 21st-century skills in technology and design. The TUMO learning program is made up of self-learning activities, workshops, and project labs that revolve around 14 learning targets from robotics and programming to filmmaking and music. They give students the means to gain the know-how that makes them unstoppable and become globally competitive and self-confident. The opening of TUMO Yerevan in 2011 was only their first step in creating a new generation of confident and competitive Armenian youth. Today, they have 60,000 alumni from Armenia and Artsakh and over 21,000 active students attending the TUMO Yerevan center alone. They recently announced the TUMO Armenia campaign with the mission of bringing the program to all youth across the country.

With the TUMO Armenia Campaign, they are looking to raise $50M USD to create 16 Hubs and 110 Boxes, accessible from every community nationwide. That means that regardless of where the teenagers are in the country, 80,000 students a year will have access to TUMO’s cutting-edge education. Since the launch in September 2021, they have already raised over $19M.

What are TUMO Boxes?

TUMO boxes are low-cost and easy-to-deploy facilities built out of shipping containers. Strategically placed so that every teen in Armenia can reach one in 15 minutes or less, these self-contained learning environments are equipped with state-of-the-art workstations and equipment and can host up to 320 students. These satellite locations also provide access to the TUMO program and the entire network of coaches, workshop leaders, and fellow students. Throughout the year, students commute from the Box to the nearest connected Hub to participate in workshops and learning labs. TUMO provides transportation from every box to the hub closest to their town or villages. The Boxes bring the program to students in remote regions and surrounding villages while being strategically placed to be easily accessible by teens from nearby areas. This is where we come in:

We’ve decided to raise $235K USD for one of those TUMO Boxes! Once the fundraiser has been completed, the box will be located in Amberd and give the opportunity for kids in the region to attend this box and receive outstanding education around tech, design, arts, and more. 

Kicking off the fundraising with some great news! TUMO has already received a benefactor looking to match our funds on a $1 per $1 basis. This means that we would only need to raise $117,500 USD instead of $235,000 USD to be able to achieve our goal! Although a daunting task, we believe we could achieve this goal in the coming months with all your help and support. This initiative brings the opportunity for the diaspora to give back and impact the growth potential of the kids of Armenia. With your support, we will be able to give the opportunity to over 320 kids to attend this institution for 3 years and provide all the tools they need to create their own future within Armenia. • Total: $235,000

2. Donate (See our Donation Incentives). Any amount helps us reach our goal and don’t forget, every donation is matched on a $1 per $1 basis! 

3. Reach out to us if you are interested in partnering with us on this project. We are looking for different partners across the board to help spread the word about TUMO and about this fundraiser. 

Donation Incentives:

• $10,000+: For a donation greater than $10,000, you will receive the name of your choosing added to the donor wall in the newly created Box

• $2,500 one-time donation or $200 monthly recurring: Receive a TUMO Ring, produced at TUMO Studio in Yerevan, using concrete from the TUMO Box foundations.

  

• $250+: Receive a tax receipt in the USA
